Hurricane Iota Update: 11/17/20

During the evening of November 16, Hurricane Iota, the strongest storm on record this late in the annual Atlantic hurricane season, made landfall along the coast of Nicaragua, carrying catastrophic winds and heavy rains to a part of Central America that was reeling from the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Eta less than two weeks earlier. Iota was a Category 4 hurricane when it made landfall in northeastern Nicaragua with sustained winds of 155 mph.
